Ulf Hoppmann
Founder and Managing Director
Ulf Hoppmann is the Founder and Managing Director of Xelium and brings more than 20 years of international leadership experience in the life‑science industry and management consulting.
Before founding Xelium, Ulf served as Director of Corporate Finance Life Science at Ernst & Young in London, where he advised global clients on acquisitions, divestments, restructurings, licensing deals and strategic business development initiatives across the life‑science sector.
Ulf began his industry career at Boehringer Ingelheim, where he was responsible for acquisitions, equity investments, licensing activities and divestments across biotechnology, animal health and consumer healthcare — managing a total transaction volume of more than USD 2 billion.
As Vice President Global Business Development at Heraeus, he developed the strategic direction for multiple business units and executed numerous strategic transactions and partnerships, including in pharma contract manufacturing, catalysis, precious metals and fuel‑cell technologies.
He later took on responsibility for Corporate Strategy and M&A at Lianhetech in Shanghai, a publicly listed company on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange. In this role, he led the company’s international expansion in Southeast Asia and oversaw the successful acquisition of Fine Organics in the United Kingdom.
Alongside his role at Xelium, Ulf serves as a board advisor to Ofichem and is a co‑founder of Green Energy Materials.
He holds a degree in Technical Chemistry and Business Administration from the Technical University of Berlin, as well as a Master’s in International Business from Macquarie University in Sydney.
Dr. Andreas Winterfeldt

Dr. Andreas Winterfeldt brings more than 36 years of international leadership experience in the pharmaceutical and chemical industries to his role as an advisor at Xelium. With an exceptionally broad background in executive management, strategy development and large‑scale transformation processes, he offers deep expertise in global business and operations management — spanning commercial functions, marketing, engineering, manufacturing, quality and process development through to R&D.
Throughout his distinguished career, Andreas has served as CEO of Lianhetech and PHT International and has held senior leadership positions at Boehringer Ingelheim, J. M. Huber and Riedel de Haen AG (later part of Honeywell and AlliedSignal), reporting directly to executive boards.
He earned his doctorate in chemistry from the University of Bielefeld and has been recognized with the prestigious Zhejiang West Lake Friendship Award as well as honorary citizenship of the city of Taizhou in China. His international career has taken him to Germany, Denmark, Belgium, the United States and China. He now lives in Charlotte, North Carolina.
